INTRO TO MY GARDEN
Taking this from what I saw in my head to reality has been a labor of love (and by love I mean blood, sweat, and lots of cursing).
I used treated lumber to build frames, then made the sides out of corrugated aluminum roofing. The main garden boxes are all 18" tall and 4' wide.
Along the back fence the boxes are 24" tall. This is where I grow grapes, raspberries, and blueberries. I also have a couple of bee hotels hanging on the fence. I've seen a solid uptick in friendly pollinators the last couple of years that I've had them up.
All of this surrounds the chicken coop. I've got four hens currently and it is so fun to listen to their little conversations while I work in the garden.
The taller part of the wall doesn't have garden boxes behind it, but is there to hide the big containers of chicken supplies, scraps of building materials, etc. from the rest of the yard. I've got a couple of young peach trees hiding back here also, I'm hoping to get half a dozen or so peaches this year. Along the front of the coop is a small planter where I have vines growing up the sides to eventually shade the inside of the coop. I also like to grow peas and other vining vegetables in here that the chickens can peck at through the fencing.
